What Is a Level 10 Meeting?
A Level 10 Meeting is a 90-minute structured meeting for leadership teams to discuss goals, track progress, and solve issues. Unlike traditional meetings, which often veer off course, a Level 10 Meeting follows a set agenda to keep everyone focused and productive. When implemented correctly, this format eliminates distractions, fosters collaboration, and helps you regain control of your time.
The Structure of a Level 10 Meeting
1. Start with Good News
Begin with a segue where everyone shares personal and professional wins. This sets a positive tone and encourages the team to look for successes within the business.
2. Review the Scorecard
Next, present 5–15 key metrics, such as sales or proposals. This section provides a quick pulse on the business. However, discussions on issues are saved for later to maintain focus.
3. Rocks Check-In
Rocks are quarterly priorities. Team members report whether their rocks are “on track” or “off track.” Off-track items are added to the issues list for deeper discussion later.
4. Customer and Employee Headlines
Highlight important updates about clients or employees, such as achievements or challenges. This ensures transparency without straying into lengthy debates.
5. To-Do List Review
Check progress on last week’s action items. Accountability is key, so it’s a simple yes or no.
6. IDS: Identify, Discuss, Solve
This is the heart of the meeting. Focus on solving the top three prioritized issues. By addressing the root cause, you’ll avoid temporary fixes and build long-term solutions.
7. Recap and Rate the Meeting
Before closing, recap action items and rate the meeting from 1–10. This feedback ensures continuous improvement.
